In our old age, my husband Dave and I are working to get a commuter train up and running from Portola to Reno, NV.

 

Like the Gold Mountain project that brought tens of thousands of people to Plumas county to recreate starting in 1995, Dave and I decided that in order to develop good paying jobs for our youth, the novelty of a historic commuter train might just rejuvenate the region again.

 

So in early 2019, we began making calls to the Departments of transportation for Nevada and California and Union Pacific Railway that owned the track.
